  1. Great Concept - Needs Improvement

    Posted by Lucas on

I was really excited to buy this case for my new MBP Retina 15" as it looked quite promising. I finally got over how expensive it was at took the plunge.

However, upon receiving the case and trying it out for a few weeks, I immediately identified one major flaw in the design of the case. It is quite difficult to insert the Mac and remove it from the sleeve itself.

Granted the quality of its materials and manufacturing are on par, but it is just simply too hard to get the computer in and out of the case. Every time I have to, I spend about 15 seconds fidgeting to get it in and out.

I believe the problem is that the the magnetic flap, that is, the closure and opening slot is simply too small and too narrow for it to be comfortably operated. It's also quite hard to take the computer out of the case; it's as if there's a lot of friction going on so that you have the pull the computer out, instead of sliding it out.

I think Incase should revise their design and introduce a second generation of this case as it certainly does have potential and the looks of it are really cool! However, as it stands today, you have MANY OTHER great choices for the money. You can even get much better sleeves for much less. I expected a flawless product for a $70 sleeve.

  2. Nice snug fit and great protection! Spendy.

I have a Speck cover on my macbook which makes it ever so slightly larger. It still fits in the case extremely snug but does work. It has stretched a bit through use. This is good. The fit would be absolutely perfect without the cover installed. This is an expensive sleeve but is worth it. The thick side protection makes fitting a 15 inch computer in a 15 inch computer bag a bit of a problem. You're better with a 17 computer bag. I can fit this in my 15 inch Briggs and Riley. I value a very compact package while traveling so I'm okay with the work it takes to fit in the bag. What I really wanted here was good protection for my computer and this sleeve certainly does that. I'm not crazy about the closure. It isn't very absolute. The magnets are weak. It does close. There is no possibiliy of damage with with the magnets being hidden under foam. Again the closure might work better without the cover I have on my computer.

  3. Great carry around case

I use this case around the office to keep my expensive MacBook Pro from getting nicked up. The case adds very little thickness to the laptop and it doesn't add much weight. The case is very well built and does a great job of protecting the laptop. I've had the case a few months now, and it still looks like new. At the end of the day, I put the case in the sleeve, and put the sleeve in my backpack - so I get an extra layer of protection. I've had several people ask me about the case - they all like the thin sleeve idea.

  4. Great Sleeve

I bought this sleeve for protection when traveling. It did not disappoint. The outer edges/bumpers are more structured than other sleeves I have owned. The inside is extremely soft and the fit is great. I have no complaints, this was a great purchase!

  5. Buy this sleeve

I purchased this sleeve because I wanted something very form fitting for my MBP Retina. I have always trusted products from inCase, and this one does not disappoint. It fits the MBP like a glove and closes very nicely. The rounded corners are a nice touch of protection if you are accident prone like myself. Yes they are expensive, but so is a MBP. It's worth the investment in protecting it.
